In the heart of downtown Amarillo, Zen 721 continues to be an incredible addition to the Amarillo fine dining scene. Lance Criswell purchased this fine establishment after working as chef for a year and a half at Zen. He has streamlined the menu with actually an increase in the quality of the gourmet offerings. This restaurant has a loyal following of locals who appreciate fine cuisine. We have dined there and found it to a rewarding experience.
An Asian-American cuisine with a Japanese influence is featured. Zen 721's menu has the best to offer of fresh seafood, rice and noodle dishes, and the desserts are absolutely to die for! The nightly specials are changed often and are not to be missed! Zen now offers a seasonal menu so you can always look forward to new entries.
On our last visit, Carol had the Alaskan Salmon Fillet: flame grilled and served with peanut pesto broccoli, onion/honey marmalade and charred scallions. Ron ordered the Fillet of Beef and sides of sweet potato fries and rice noodles. The house salad that we both ordered was absolute perfection. Carol's entree was seasoned with creative talent and will be remembered for a food while.. Ron's fillet was prepared exactly as ordered and was a melt in your mouth wonder.
Zen 721 also offers an extended bar and lounge for your favorite martini or wine either before or after dinner. They also have an excellent selection of cold Japanese Sake!
