Review by Ron:

I had been driving by Wheels for several months and was always curious about the place and its unique name.  I really figured that because of its kind of out of the way location that it was just another attempt at the restaurant business that would fail.  After it seemed to survive, i thought i would check it out.

What a surprise!  I found Wheels Chicken & Waffles to be one of the best kept (restrooms included) restaurants I have ever attended.  And my first good impression was that a waitress gave me her attention immediately and seemed actually glad that i was there.  I later found out that Larry Mitchel, the owner, was there overseeing things.  A also learned later that he usually is there.  That's what makes for a great restaurant....locally and locally operated by a sole proprietor.

But the best news was yet to come.  While I was waiting for my chicken fried chicken to come from the kitchen, I paid attention to other patrons orders as they were served.  The onion rings looked fantastic (one of my weaknesses),  the fried chicken looked great and and some were having breakfast a 2 in the afternoon (breakfast at all open hours).

Chicken N' Waffles is not just a funky name.....they actually offer fried chicken with a waffle and one side order.  Wheels also offers a child's menu and has a private conference room for large gatherings.

Back to my review.  My chicken fried chicken was without question the best I have ever eaten.  First bite I cut with my knife and never touched it again.  The juicy chicken breast fillet was fork tender and the light crust was perfect.  I later learned that Larry only allows the best and healthiest cooking ingredients in the kitchen.  My fried okra and yellow squash were excellent and the gravy for the chicken was extraordinarily good.

Don't get me wrong.  This is not a fancy wear a tie type joint.  It is casual, with a biker and antique car theme restaurant with plenty of seating both tables and booths.  I can't wait to take Carol there and share an order of onion rings and try the breakfast items (again any hour open)  We will give you an update.
