Scott's Oyster Bar - Amarillo
REVIEW by Ron & Carol

Really fresh seafood way out in the middle of the West Texas Panhandle?  You bet!  And they have been serving it for years now.  We have been there many times and the quality has been consistant every time.  Scott, the owner, sees to that.

Many people love their oysters on the half shell.  We can't imagine a mouth full of  raw sea creature doused with tabasco sauce in our mouth, but many people can, and come back again and again to  Scott's for this delicacy.

The service is great.  Darrell is usually waiting tables and he takes care of business with a great sense of humor.  Scott says they call him "Fat Daddy", don't know why, he is tall and lean---maybe the fat is all in his head.

Unless we order the nightly special, we usually order a half order (12) u-peel-em shrimp and a combination basket of fried shrimp and catfish served with fries and slaw.  Carol eats the fried shrimp, Ron eats the catfish and we share the boiled shrimp.

Don't expect a fancy place but do expect a great casusl atmosphere and, weather permiting, outdoor patio seating.  Great pictures of Scott and his buddies deep sea fishing adorn the walls and ther are several humorous signs like "If Your In A Big Hurry---Long John Silvers is down the street".   Don't get the wrong idea, the service is fast but everything is cooked to order.  This place is popular for people from all walks of life and there may be a short wait during the rush hour.  Hence, another sign, "Eat and Get Out"

The menu is limited but expertly prepared.  We love the huge galvanized steel watering trough filled with beer and a few wine coolers.  Bottled beer doesn't get any colder than this.
