We rarely review "fast food" restaurants.  We all go to or drive thru one frequently when in a hurry or just want a snack or take home.  But, they are just that, "fast food" cooked in mass quanties and kept warm.  Some are not bad, but Chicken Express is well above the norm in our opinion.

We go there frequently for several reasons.  Ever get tired of chicken, potatoes and slaw?  Check out the selection of sides above.  We both love the corn on the cob, the okra and the corn nuggets are fantastic.  Don't get us wrong.  We are not saying that Chicken Express is a gourmet restautant, but we have always found the food very good.

One of the main reasons we patronize this establishment, is the catfish.  Ron is crazy about good catfish.  Carol does not care for it but likes their chicken very much.  Why is their catfish so good?  Aside from they fact that they purchase good carfish, it is cooked to order.   There is an extra six minute wait and well worth the extra time. In Ron's opinion, Chicken Express has among the three or four best catfish offerings in Amarillo, including nice sit down only restaurants.

You can also get sweetened tea, even by the gallon, and all reports say that it as very good as well as are their other drinks.  Yoau may dine in or go thru the drive up for all menu items including a wide variety of family packs.
