When Texas Monthly magazine saluted Texas' top 50 barbecue joints a few years ago, Amarillo's Beans N Things made the list two years in a row, one of only 18 places to repeat. We had enjoyed this true Texas Bar B Que back then and were reminded of how authentic this establishment was when we started writing reviews. Ron has recently gone there not only for a fine lunch but also for their unbeatable breakfast burritos.
Ron has savored the juicy hickory-smoked brisket and mesquite-smoked ribs at this counter-order barbecue joint with knotty pine walls and lunchroom tables many times recently and has never been disappointed., Take your pick of mild or spicy sauce sitting on the tables.
The side orders have always been unique and you can choose from potato salad, spiced beans or cole slaw. The A-1 onion rings are available if you request them......Ron usually asks them to substitute them for the beans.....getting old you know.
The Locals Know Where to Go for fine bar b que and this is one of the finest for the real thing. If you are a local or visiting or traveling thru Amarillo. you should go just little bit off the beaten bath of the big tourist traps and try Bean N, Things (just east of Mirror St --Ross/Osage at I-40---on Amarillo Blvd......Old US Route 66. You will enjoy the well displayed memorabilia of days gone by and personalties from years ago.
Beans N' Things does a tremendous take out business and does a lot of catering and custom smoking for larger groups because of their fine reputation over the years.
